PASTOR RAY DIVORCES … AGAIN ….
Pastor Ray McCauley’s wife Zelda is going to divorce him, the Rhema Bible Church said on Thursday.
“The executive board of Rhema Bible Church and the International Federation of Christian Churches (IFCC) are sad to announce that Pastor Ray McCauley has received from Zelda notice of her intention to file for divorce,” church administrator Giet Khoza said in a statement.
Ray McCauley was “devastated”, but handling the matter “spiritually”.
The McCauleys had been married for 10 years. It was the third marriage for Zelda, a former model.
The couple’s marriage had been on the rocks before.
But after lengthy mediation by church elders, the couple reconciled.
This is McCauley’s second divorce.
His first wife Lyndie filed for divorce in 2000, after 21 years of marriage.
McCauley, 50, announced at the end of the morning Easter service inside the Rhema Church auditorium in Randburg that his marriage to his wife Lyndie was on the rocks.
After a moving sermon in which McCauley quoted from biblical verses to thunderous applause from the congregation, the charismatic pastor called his son Joshua onto the stage and read a statement to congregants about his impending divorce.
Worshippers reacted with shock and their faces dropped in dismay as McCauley told them how hard he had tried to save his marriage.
He said that over the past months he and his peers, Rhema pastors and some church elders had tried everything to realise a plan for reconciliation and healing for his marriage.
“Up until now Lyndie has not found it within herself to follow this counsel and so it is with great sadness that I have to announce that she has initiated divorce proceedings,” said McCauley to the congregation.
He stressed that he did not believe in divorce, saying it was a sin.
McCauley called on his followers to pray for his family through these “challenging” times.
He confirmed that Lyndie had left the family home and was somewhere in Cape Town.
He said lawyers representing McCauley and his wife had started meeting last week to discuss the divorce.
The reasons for Lyndie’s decision have not been spelt out, but speculation in the City Press was that a third party was involved.
It reported that someone who had worked in the security department of the church was said to have been responsible for the marriage breakup.

I would have also been “devastated” if Ruth had left me. Of course, she wasn’t crazy about all the hookers in my office 24/7, but she did understand that running a Ponzi ain’t a bag of laughs. After all, a guy needs some time out.
